It was a glorious morning on the coastal hiking trail from Vernazza to Monterosso in the Cinque Terre region of Italy. There are a few places along the trails where you can see several of the towns from one spot. Here you can see prominently the town of Vernazza in the morning light, with the castle on the promontory. If you zoom in, you can also see the town of Corniglia on the clifftop. It is the only one of the towns not located on the waterfront. Further along is Manarola. Cinque Terre is a string of five centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline in the Liguria region of Italy. In each of the five towns of the region, colorful houses tumble down rocky cliffs, ancient vineyards cling to steep terraces and fishing boats bob in harbors. The five towns are a hikers tourism resort paradise. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
