Description
Purple Chive Flower macro against green background. The purple chive has a delicate lavender color. I love the cluster of blossoms and like to use them on my sping salads and as plate decoration. They are a beautiful flower which attracks many beneficial insects. Ones planted they come back in vigur. Chives, scientific name Allium schoenoprasum, is an edible species of the genus Allium. Its close relatives include the garlic, shallot, leek, scallion, and Chinese onion. Chives are a commonly used herb and can be found in grocery stores or grown in home gardens. In culinary use, the scapes and the unopened, immature flower buds are diced and used as an ingredient for fish, potatoes, soups, and other dishes. The edible flowers can be used in salads.Chives have insect-repelling properties that can be used in gardens to control pests.
